The effect of kebar leaf extract on serum kisspeptin levels and ovarian kisspeptin expression in polycystic ovary syndrome rat model (rattus norvegicus)

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of Kebar leaf extract on serum levels and ovarian expression of kisspeptin in a PCOS rat model.
Methodology: The study employed a randomized post-test-only control group design with rats as subjects. Rats were divided into three groups: a negative control, a positive control, and a treatment group, each receiving different doses of Kebar leaf extract (1.42 mg/g BW/day). Kisspeptin levels were measured from serum and ovarian tissues after treatment.
Results: Kebar leaf extract significantly increased average kisspeptin levels in rats compared to positive controls (p<0.001). This dosage also led to a significant decrease in the IRS score of kisspeptin expression (p=0.005), when compared to controls.
Conclusion: Kebar leaf extract at a dose of 1.42 mg/gBW/day in PCOS rats significantly increased kisspeptin levels and decreased the IRS score of kisspeptin expression.
