Integrated pathology management of thyroid-linked sub-fertility: A multidisciplinary systematic approach in gynecology and Otorhinolaryngology

Abstract
Objective: To analyze effects of thyroid dysfunction on sub-fertility that requires an evaluation of management techniques involving gynecology and otolaryngology (ENT) specialists. Methodology: This research followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines to analyze studies on the effects of thyroid dysfunction on sub-fertility from 2010 to 2024. A thorough database search was conducted in PubMed and Scopus along with other relevant databases using keywords related to thyroid dysfunction, sub-fertility and the dual roles of gynecology and ENT. A total of 35 studies passed the initial review out of 120 analyzed articles, while the systematic analysis included 11 studies that evaluated the effects of thyroid disease on reproductive health, diagnosis methods, treatment options, and the cooperation between gynecologist and ENT specialists. QUADAS-2 tool determined risk of bias, and GRADE criteria evaluated the evidence quality.
Results: After reviewing 11 studies, we evaluated thyroid disease's impact on pregnancy outcomes, thyroid hormone analysis of sub-fertility, and integrated therapeutic studies. Specific treatment for thyroid dysfunction yielded positive results for reproductive health, as 68% of women demonstrated better fertility outcomes with such intervention. Patients with thyroid-related anovulation experienced a 25% improvement in their pregnancy rates when their treatment included gynecology and ENT management according to statistical analysis (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The combined efforts of gynecologists and ENT specialists leads to improved outcomes when treating subfertility caused by thyroid disorders. To enhance fertility results, practitioners need to conduct early diagnosis, use combined therapies, and maintain regular thyroid functionality measurement.
