Association of PSA with bone scan in carcinoma prostate

Abstract
Objective: To see the relation of PSA >20 ng/dl with bone metastasis.
Methodology: This prospective study included 50 patients who were newly diagnosed with carcinoma of prostate and PSA >20 ng/dl underwent a bone scan study at department of urology, Chandka Medical College Hospital Larkana between January 2018 to February 2020.
Results: Mean age of patients was 67.15±7.21 years. Mean PSA was 293.34±472ng/dl. The bone scan was positive in 30 (60%) patients which have PSA more than 20ng/dl. Bone pain was positive in 35(70%) patients.
Conclusion: Patients with PSA >20ng/dl were at higher risk of bone metastasis. We recommend bone scintigraphy to all patients with PSA >20ng/dl.
