Abstract
Objective: To elucidate the current magnitude of the internal organ/s involvement in patients of systemic sclerosis concerning their Modified Rondnan skin score (MRSS).
Methods: A total of 52 patients were included. Skin thickness was calculated by MRSS, and internal organ/s by history, examination, and investigations like serum creatinine, transthoracic echocardiography, HRCT and PFTs. Relation of skin thickness and internal organ involvement was studied. Data ware analyzed by SPSS version 24.0.
Results: Mean MRSS score was 19.4±10.53, female predominance (88.4%) and mean duration of 6.3±6.2 years The visceral involvement in patients with MRSS >20 showed greater visceral involvement. Isolated pulmonary involvement was recorded in 67.3% followed by pulmo-renal 11.5%, Pulmo-cardiac in 5.7% and pulmo-renal-cardiac in 9.6% of patients (p=0.001).
Conclusion: Our study showed the predominant involvement of pulmonary organs and the relation of MRSS with visceral involvement. The study emphasized the significance of MRSS as a non-invasive clinical tool for identifying high-risk patients at initial presentation.

Key words: High-resolution contrast tomography, interstitial lung disease, Modified Rodnan Skin Score, pulmonary function tests, systemic sclerosis.
