Role of social network behavior and medical issues faced by hemophilic patients: A cross sectional study of children hospital Multan city, Pakistan

Objective: To determine the social network behavior and medical issues faced by hemophilic patients in Children Hospital Multan, Pakistan.
Methodology: This cross sectional study was conducted from February to May 2019. It included 300 mothers of registered hemophilic patients who were interviewed through de-facto sampling technique.
Results: The behavior of social network i.e. class fellows (n=161, 53.7%, p=0.011), relatives (n=187, 62.3%, p=0.003) and siblings (n=147, 49.0%, p=0.034) with hemophilic patients was normal. Bleeding occurred in 201 (67.0%, p=0.000<.001) respondents >3 times in a month from different body parts of their children. Additionally, 125 (41.7%) mothers stated that physicians declared their children physical condition to be severely ill and damaged.
Conclusion: Social network behavior and medical issues affected the hemophilic patients in the study vicinity. Provision of financial and social support, along with media campaigns can be helpful in spreading awareness about severity of this deadly disease.
