Experiences faced by MHPE graduates after their first year of post-graduation in Pakistan

Abstract
Objective: To explore the experiences faced by the MHPE graduates during first year of their job.
Methodology: In this qualitative narrative study, open ended interviews of six medical educationists involved in private and public medical colleges were conducted. Interviews were transcribed and data were arranged by computer analysis program ATLAS.ti and themes were derived.
Results: Total of five themes were derived from data analysis, which are cultural expectation, integration of career and home life, work pressure, lack of voice/participation and policy intervention.
Conclusion: Faculty collaboration, mutual respect, honor and a well-organized teamwork under the umbrella of a well-developed infrastructure is required to adopt to a much-needed educational reform. Appropriate leadership with a strong experience in medical education is critical for the new medical education culture to thrive and produce professional doctors.
