Abstract
Objective: To determine the factors that enhance motivation of nursing staff working in Al-Kharj Governorate.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study was conducted from July 2024 to September 2024 using a convenient sampling technique and included 172 staff nurses. Study instrument, Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale was used to assess motivational factors impacting nurses’ work. It consists of six dimensions divided into 18 items.
Results: Introjected regulation was considered the highest mean score of motivational factor (8.87±2.53), while Identified regulation was the lowest the mean score of motivational factor (6.25±2.08) among nursing staff. There was a strong positive correlation between Intrinsic motivation with integrated regulation, identified regulation, introjected regulation and motivation (p=0.001, p=0.029, p=0.033, p=0.026), respectively. Type of work schedules and salary were the only statistically significant positive independent predicator for high motivation (p=0.022 & p=0.016), respectively. Finally, there was no statistical significant relation between motivational factors with any socio-demographic characteristics.
Conclusion: Intrinsic motivation had a strong positive correlation with integrated regulation, identified regulation and introjected regulation. Type of work schedules and salary had positive impact for high motivation.

Key words: Nursing, motivation, Al-Kharj Governorate.
