Perception and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among students of Turbat University, Turbat, Pakistan

Abstract
Objective: To assess the knowledge and perception among the students of Turbat university towards Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Virus.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study used a questionnaire which the was distributed among 380 randomly chosen students from the University of Turbat. Their responses were put through the SPSS 23 and analyzed with the help of the Chi-Square test.
Results: Out of 380 respondents, there were 78% male and 22% females. Among the respondents, 77.5% female and 82% male heard about Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Virus. 71% of the respondents who said yes came to know about this disease through social media, 19% through newspapers. 8% through educational institutes and 2% respondents came to know about this disease through other sources.
Conclusion: This study showed that there is emerging maturity among the youth and the most important source of their awareness about the causes and symptoms of Human Immunodeficiency Virus was social media.
