Abstract
Objective: To determine the prevalence of financial burden among stroke caregivers.
Methodology: This cross-sectional survey involved 380 stroke caregivers aged 22 to 55 years from General Hospital, Lahore, using non-probability convenient sampling. Caregivers of both genders were included. Stroke patient independence was measured using the Barthel Index scale, and the financial burden experienced by caregivers was assessed by Behavioral Inattention Test. Data analysis was performed using SPSS Statistics 26.
Results: Mean age of participants was 33.23±8.97 years. The Behavioral Inattention Test scale indicated that 25.03% of stroke patients exhibited behavioral and emotional impairment. The prevalence of financial burden among stroke caregivers was 71.68%, highlighting the significance of addressing caregivers' challenges in providing care to stroke patients.
Conclusion: A notable proportion of caregivers experience financial challenges while providing care to stroke patients. The diversity of the sample in terms of age, gender, income, and geographic region allows for a comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to financial burden among caregivers.

Key words: Stroke, caregiver, financial stress, outpatient.
