Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the intra ocular pressure reduction in congenital glaucoma patients undergoing Ahmed glaucoma (AG) valve implant.
Methodology: This descriptive case-series was conducted in the department of ophthalmology, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi from November 2020 to November 2021. There were 58 eyes of 41 patients with corneal diameter>12mm in any meridian and IOP ≥ 20. AG valve was implanted. Postoperatively, intra ocular pressure was recorded at 18month. Surgery was was considered significant if IOP reduction was >20% from base line.
Results: The average age of the children was 10.16±8.74 months. IOP reduction was observed in 85.37% (35/41) cases. Common complications observed in this study were pupillary irregularities, tube endothelial touch, fibrous growth, cataract, endophthalmitis and implant extrusion.
Conclusion: Intraocular pressure was reduced in congenital glaucoma patients undergoing AG valve implantation. Hence it can be recommended as preferred surgical treatment for congenital glaucoma.

Key words: Congenital glaucoma, Ahmed glaucoma valve, intra ocular pressure.
