Skin problems of amputee using lower limb prosthesis

Abstract
Objective: To identify frequency and predominant type of skin problems among lower limb prosthetic users.
Methodology: This study was an observational, cross-sectional survey and included 40 patients from Indus Hospital Physical Rehabilitation Center, Lahore using lower limb prosthesis. The duration was six months from September 2017 to February 18. Convenient sampling technique was used to collect data which was analyzed by using SPSS v. 24
Results: Age of amputees was 23 to 73 years. Out of 40 patients, 30(75%) patients were suffering from skin problems. Irritation was most common skin problem. 40% patients suffered from irritation, 5% ulcer, 10% inclusion cysts, 15% blisters and 30% other than these problems.
Conclusion: Three quarter of amputees using prosthesis were suffering from various skin problems.
