Abstract
Objective: To compare medication alone, physiotherapy alone and combination of medication and physiotherapy in treatment of fibromyalgia in terms of improvement in function, symptoms and overall well being.
Methodology: This Randomized Clinical Study was conducted in six weeks period and 138 patients were studied from community in and around Lahore. The Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQR) was used for each patient, which was filled out by patients before and after treatment. All patients were taken using purposive sampling and divided into 3 groups. Group I (Medication) Group II (Physiotherapy) Group III (Medication with Physiotherapy). The condition of patients was assessed and scored after six week.
Results: Combined effect of medication and physiotherapy had significant effect on function, symptoms and overall well being rather than medication alone and physiotherapy alone. The mean scores of Experimental group (medication with physiotherapy) were decreased which reflected improvement as compared to other two groups medication and physiotherapy alone (p= 0.000).
Conclusion: There was more consistency and reliability in score of experimental group. So medication with physiotherapy are more effective than medication or physiotherapy alone in improving functions, symptoms and over all well being among fibromyalgia patients.

Key words: Fibromyalgia, physiotherapy, bodyaches.
