Abstract
Objectives: To assess the occurrence of cutaneous manifestations among obese female patients. Methodology: In this descriptive study, all obese female patients attending the Dermatology clinics of Mutah University Medical Center, Jordan with skin manifestations were included. All were inspected over a period of 18 months from January 2017 to July 2018.
Results: The study had 129 patients. Acanthosis Nigricans (32.5%), hirsutism (32.5%) and alopecia (30.3%) were the most common cutaneous manifestations. Insulin resistance was significantly higher among obese patients (BMI>30).
Conclusion: Cutaneous manifestations were reasonably common among obese Jordanian females. Being aware of such clinical signs may facilitate earlier diagnoses of insulin resistance, thereby permitting earlier detection and therapy initiation and prevention of long-term sequel of obesity and insulin resistance.

Key words: Obesity, Iinsuline resistance, cutaneous manifestations, Jordan.
