Techniques of medications administration through enteral feeding catheters in a tertiary care hospital, Malaysia

Abstract
Objective: To determine the medication administration through enteral feeding catheter (EFC) for adult patients in a tertiary hospital.
Methods: A total of 144 nurses practicing administration of medications through EFC were included in this study.
Results: The techniques of medication administration through EFC varied significantly among nurses, although nursing personnel expressed confidence in the efficacy of their individual drug administration techniques.
Conclusion: A universal set of guidelines for administering medications through EFC should be adopted and widely disseminated among nurses.
